Here We Are Week #4

It is true we have had at least one disaster a week since we moved into our home. First week it was a leaky sinks and showers. In fact that first Sunday in our home I took a shower in our hall bath when I went to turn the shower off the knob would only turn and the water kept pouring out the faucet. We got inside the handle removed a piece that we thought was getting in the way of shutting the water off and that seemed to fix it, until today. That first week we had a few other leaks we needed to fix and a couple of other small quirks. Week number two we had someone come out to clean our pool because no matter what we did it just didn't seem to get cleaned, that is when we found out the pool filter needed to be replace, so we paid $700 and got that fixed. Week number 3 was our infamous fire, I know what you are thinking, no small house fire is infamous, well to me it is. This fire will be costing us just about $1,300 if we make a claim on our insurance I don't know what it will be if we fix it ourselves. We also had a large plumbing issue with our washer that would leak outside but that was covered by the home warranty and only cost $55. Finally we are in week #4 and yet we are back to week 1 because the same problem we had that first day in our house with the faucet that wont turn off is happening to me right now. I tried the trick from last time only that isn't working so now I sit here crying wondering what to do next, do I call the same plumber that came last time, do I use our home warranty again and pay the $55 or do I call a guy from our previous ward who happens to be a plumber? What I really want to do is go shopping, oh right all of the money that could be used for shopping is now going to fix the problems with our house. Please tell me that it gets better.

  1. I'm so sorry about the plumbing. I promise it is worth owning your own home even when you have the problems. Our roof has leaked every since we bought the house 3 years ago. After Dustin tried to fix it many many times, we finally had to hire someone. If Dustin knew about plumbing I would offer his services. Good luck!!

  2. In my experience things don't get better, but life gets easier and more enjoyable as you learn to be grateful and happy for whatever comes your way. One trial prepares you for the next one. Keep the smile on your face and find ways to lift others even while you are down. Accept help from others cheerfully. In the end the winners will be the ones with smiles on their faces and an arm around another person. P.S. It is OK to cry. You are a winner in my opinion.
