What is wrong with failure?

Today it seems failure is so bad you cannot allow anyone to fail. I think that we are creating a weak society with more fear then courage. If we are not allowed to fail then we will not learn that it is alright and we will just be so afraid to fail that we wont want to try anything. We no longer keep score in little league because we don't want any "losers". Guess what this world is made up of winners and losers and that is OK. If we never allow a child to get a bad grade, even though that is what the earned, they wont know the joy that comes from studying and earning that A, also the child will not be able to see that it is OK to fail, isn't this how we often learn to do better.

I am so upset about this GM, Ford and Chrysler bailout garbage. I keep hearing, "If we don't bail them out, the whole country will fall into a depression." I think just the opposite. If we do bail them out with money that our country does not have that will send us into a depression on the other hand if they do not get bailed out they will be forced to go back to the drawing board and figure out a new way to run the business. Obviously they aren't making good business choices because they got themselves in this mess. I don't see Honda or Toyota begging for a hand out. Oh that's right because Honda doesn't make vehicles that cost so much to fill with gas. Honda has never made a vehicle that is a V8 they have only made V6 and less. They were smart and they make smaller cylinder cars that run on even less gas.

Here's the deal America is a free market you either make a good product that people want and succeed or you don't and your company fails. That is when you figure out what you did wrong and make it better or you don't have a job. If the CEO's of the 3 companies can't figure out the problem without the help of the government they don't deserve the 25 million dollar salary they get each year, time to step up guys. Anyway these CEO's keep saying they don't want things to get competitive between these 3 companies, competition is a good thing it creates great products. Another way competition is good is that customer service might get better. I can't believe the way some kids are when they are working. Thanks to my first boss at the FAN-A-MANIA, we would have been fired on the spot if we would have been talking on our cell phones or to each other rather then help the customer or she would have shot us but she would not tolerate such rude behavior. If companies are struggling to get customers they are going to treat them a whole lot better because they will want to keep the ones they have. Failure helps make people great. I know that I have failed in my life and because of that I will make sure never to make those choices again. I am a better person because of my failure and I treat others better when they fail because I know that good people fail.

  1. I am somewhat torn on the whole auto bailout situation. On one hand, I have an uncle who works for GM. If they go out of business, he wouldn't have a job. He doesn't have a college education and he has worked for GM his whole adult life. He doesn't really have anything to fall back on, so I worry that if he loses a job, he would lose his house (which was my grandma's) and it would just be terrible. But... this is a free market. Failure has and will happen. In order for capitalism to work, we need to have the ebb and flow of the economy. This bailout won't solve any problems. It may keep the auto companies above water for a while, but unless they manage the business more wisely, they'll just need to be bailed out again.
