Jail is for drug users not child abusers.
I have an older brother who molested his very own daughter about 5 years ago. This wasn't his first offense, I was his first offense. No one was able to call the authorities on him the first time or this time when he molested his daughter because my mom told us not to or it might kill her. In my family you don't want to do anything that would hurt the abuser's feelings that would be uncool. And oh he suffered consequences, Yep! that is right the guy actually got sentenced to 1.5 years of therapy and couldn't be alone with his daughter during that time. REALLY! Could you slap his hand a tad softer, I wouldn't want him to cry. My bother never got any jail time. Heaven forbid he actually feel some punishment for his crime. I am incredibly unhappy. I am tired of people abusing children and getting away with it. My mom actually didn't talk to me for about a year because I called child protective services on my brother when I found out what he did. That was a huge slap in the face! Today this brother decided to take his daughter to a "safe" place by himself. I am not so sure she is safe.

What a horrible position for your mom to put you guys in. I think you did the right thing. Protecting your niece is way more important than protecting your brothers or mom's feelings.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Becca, for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's awful. I completely side with you, though. There is nothing more horrible in my book then hurting children.
ReplyDeleteThat is so so horrible! Becca I totally admire you even more than I did before! I am sick of abusers and totally sick of hearing about families that protect them like its some "Family Secret" bull crap! I support your actions 100%!
ReplyDeleteBecca I am so sorry. Your poor niece. I love your mom, but she really needs to be thinking about her granddaughter not her son who knows full well what he is doing and that it's wrong. By not saying anything she's just condoning what he is doing. I really hope your niece is now safe and I hope that she has loving family around her to help her get through this.
