What does a man's character say about him?

I don't really know how to start off this blog, I guess that would be because I don't really know what I want to say. Maybe you can answer the question for me with some of your thoughts. The question came into my very active mind as I was thinking about McCain vs. Obama. One man believes in partial birth abortion (if you do not know what this is look it up, but be aware it will make you sick) and supports gay marriage the other man has served his country in war but cheated on his first wife. I have noticed a trend among my Mormon friends, some who I was sure would vote for McCain are now endorsing Obama. This is surprising to me because my core belief as a Mormon is that "the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children". this is straight from The Family A Proclamation To The World. This proclamation keeps coming into my mind. The part that jumps out at me are the last two paragraphs. If you don't mind I would like to quote them now.

"We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfil family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets."

"We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society."

To me this means that it is my responsibility as a citizen to vote for righteous leaders. I don't agree with McCain on a few subjects but I also do not want a leader who doesn't believe in family the way God designed family. I love this country. I think it is the greatest nation on earth. I want one who will defend it and the morals it was built upon. I believe that it is our responsiblity too also vote for righteous congressmen, I didn't realize until a short time ago that the House of Congress makes a majority of the decisions and that we have had a democrat house for the past few years, that would explain a lot.

I have been asking myself what do these men stand for? What or rather who drives them? Do they believe in God? Do they believe in right and wrong? I want the leader of my country to pray everyday to God. This Country was built with God as the foundation and slowly He is being taken out of it one beam at a time. If this continues our country wont have legs to stand on, God is our legs.
Everyday I pray that a righteous man will be put into office.
What are some of your thoughts on the subject? I am also curious for what reasons are people voting for Obama?

Thank you for your comments I really appreciate them. You guys give me courage to stand for what is right and to let my voice be heard.

  2. I voted last week, and it was a hard decision to make. I mean, ideally, Romney would have been the Republican candidate and I would have been proud to endorse him. I am not a huge fan of McCain, but he does support the things that I value - traditional marriage and he is pro-life. I feel like John McCain will be better for the family in the long run than will Obama. In addition, I feel like Obama is more of a Socialist than anything, and that scares the crap out of me. As far as McCain having an affair on his first wife, that is really disturbing. But who knows, maybe he's changed his womanizing ways. I don't feel good about the options we have for this election, but I feel that McCain is the lesser of two evils. I just think about Obama being president and it gives me diarrhea... that's how I knew not to vote for him. I'd say to just go with your gut and close out all of the noise out there.

  3. Lets face it Mccain is the best person out of the two! As far as his affair....he's a man...he's living in the world....he has temptations. Out and sadly within this happens people are not perfect.(not right but definately not a reason not to vote for him) Now on the other hand you have a man who wants to GOVERN...a man who believes that Government is the ruling fist..a man who thinks that the Constitution (which I might add was a divine document created by our fore fathers "Under GOD")and Obama wants to change it. Obama is as FAR LEFT as you can get... He has lied so many times already..but yet has such a way at twisting words so it doesnt seem so bad. Anyone who is for Abortion is not on Gods side...and I can tell you something of Obama praying to god I doubt it! He's been going to a church that teaches RADICALISM..And if you believe he went to that church for 20 years and never heard his reverand degrade the United States then I just dont know! There is a quote that Obama said he believes WE (the United States are not the solution to the worlds problems we ARE the worlds problems!) um this is a country chosen by god! I could go on forever givng you so many things and reasons why not to vote for Obama..but sadly in life like your sister in law said there is alot of noise and confusion around us...you KNOW where to find the answer! also one last thing..It says in the scriputures that "The Constitution will hang like a thread before the coming of Jesus Christ" That should help you out cause if we elect Obama we will definately see that come to pass!
